
Homemade Burger Buns (Vegan & Easy)

Ingredients
- ⅔ cup soy milk (lukewarm)
- 2 tbsp raw cane sugar (or other sugar (*see notes))
- 2 ¼ tsp dry yeast (or ½ cube fresh yeast (21 g))
- 4 cups all-purpose or spelt flour (or gluten-free flour (*see notes))
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup water
- ⅓ cup soft vegan butter (or oil (*see notes))
- 4 tbsp soy cream or soy milk (for brushing)
- 1 pinch of turmeric (optional for a more yellow color)
- Burger Patties (of your choice)
- Lettuce
- Tomatoes
- Onions
- Ketchup
Instructions
1. Warm soy milk to 104F, add sugar and yeast, stir to dissolve, and set aside for 3 minutes until foaming.
2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt, create a well in the center, add yeast mixture and water, then incorporate vegan butter pieces and mix until combined.
3. Knead dough by hand for 5-8 minutes until smooth, or use a stand mixer with dough hooks.
4. Form dough into a ball, place in an oiled bowl, brush with water, cover with a tea towel, and let rise 45-60 minutes until doubled in size.
5. Divide dough into 9 equal pieces (100g each), form into buns, place on parchment-lined baking tray with space between each, cover, and let rise 20-30 minutes.
6. After 15 minutes of rising time, preheat oven to 356F (180C).
7. Brush buns with soy cream mixed with turmeric for golden color, then bake for 25-30 minutes.
